Capabilities

Physical therapists plan, organize, and administer treatment in order to restore functional mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent disability for those suffering from a disabling injury or disease. Their patients may include work-related injuries, motor vehicle accidents, sports injuries, stroke victims, and individuals with disabilities.

Conditions likely to require treatment by a physical therapist include arthritis, amputees, balance and walking problems, osteoporosis, headaches, or knee, shoulder, TMJ, as well as neck and back pains.

Physical therapists communicate with the other health care members involved with a patient's treatment to allow comprehensive, high-quality care with maximum outcomes achieved. The patient is a member of the team too, and will be involved in goal setting and the daily plan of care.

While West Virginia law requires a doctor's prescription before treatment begins, physical therapists can evaluate an injury and refer patients to the appropriate physician.

Physical Therapy is covered by most major health insurance plans, either fully or in part.

Special areas of therapy are provided to the following:

  • Orthopedic Patients
  • Sports Medicine Patients
  • Neurological Patients
